Where there is palm, there is water.

This photography installation extends the artist's ongoing research into the deep relationship between the Hassawii people and their natural surroundings, with a particular focus on palm trees and bodies of water there. Focusing on these two natural elements, AlBokhari delves into the ceremonies and rituals that are traditionally held around them. Growing up, the artist frequently visited Al Ahsaa with her family, spending much of that time around it's farms and oases. As her connection to the land deepened over the years, so did her curiosity about whether others shared similar bonds. This led her to explore the community’s connection to nature through their rituals, folklore, and shared stories.

This installation was commissioned for the "Common Ground" exhibition curated by Jumana Ghouth; organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture in 2024.

This edition delves into the Saboha (سبوحة) ceremony, held on the wedding day. Men gather at a farm to bathe the groom in the oasis, preparing him for the wedding signifying that the groom is ready for the new phase in his life. This ritual is also accompanied by chants and songs specific to the occasion.

It's a fading tradition the artist seeks to preserve through documentation.
