When I think of you all I see are colors
Color plays a vital role in our psychological experience, influencing perception, emotion, memory, and development. It connects us to feelings and thoughts, which become intertwined with our memories. The artist draws from her childhood in Al Ahsa, translating those memories into a textile installation. This piece serves as a color study, reflecting her familial roots and the hues of her city. The colors are derived from personal and family archives, capturing the feeling of being in Al Ahsa. Using alternative photographic processes, abstract images of the city are printed onto the textile, symbolizing fragmented memories. Embroideries of ornaments and engravings from homes in the historic Al Kout neighborhood where her parents are from, reflecting the family's history there. As she was creating the piece, the artist realized she sewed together a tapestry of her family’s shared experiences in Al Ahsa. Exhibited in Misk Art Institute’s Summer Exhibition ‘24 (Riyadh)
