Dis/continued Echos
These series investigates the network of people and traditions that keep cassette shops alive against expectations of their disappearance, tackling themes of remembrance, attachments to objects, and the way they’re embodied in personal collections.
The project was divided into two part; first was the investigation and mapping of music shops that still exist, and second interviewing young collectors that are keeping those spaces alive.
The series are still on going as the artist is conducting this research around Saudi.
These series were developed and showcased in Misk Art Institute’s Photography Micro-Residency ‘23

While documenting all the collectors, interviews were conducted to learn more about how they started collecting and what do they like to collect.
