These series uses cyanotype printing to explore intimacy and memory. Distorted images of shared spaces and quiet embraces capture the lasting imprints of friendship and community. Created collaboratively under sunlight, each blue-toned piece embodies conversation, connection, and the nurturing safe spaces we provide one another through human presence and care.

The care series

To Care and Be Cared For

للرعاية والعناية

As part of the Latifa’s cyanotype series studying intimacy within our relationships; the artist distorts a familiar image to convey memory - a couch where the bodies that once sat chatting leave their marks. This memory reverbates the power of community, sharing and caring which the artist understands as integral to both her creative practice as well as her personal well being, embodying the safe space that we provide each other. Using cyanotype printing, AlBokhari enlisted a friend to help with the sun printing process, having a conversation in the process of creating the final piece which echoes the intimacy of the moment. This installation and performance invites you to connect with a purpose that is integral to all people and have a conversation. Exhibited in Athr Foundation’s Young Saudi Artists ‘23 curated by Rami Farook (Riyadh)

I got you and you got me

أنا سندك و أنت سندي

Within AlBokhari’s cyanotype series studying intimacy within our relationships, this installation highlights the embrace between two close friends and the impact it has on individuals. The cyanotype hue develops to a certain shade of blue depending on the time it is exposed, much like the impact of embrace between two friends, either old acquaintances, friendships or lifelong partners - there are varying hues and imprints that can be left.

Through this process, the artist invites viewers to contemplate the profound impact that human connection has on our lived experience.
